The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, on Thursday, threatened to close down DSTv, a South African satellite television service provider due to failure of the company to halt their tariff increment. The student body described the action of the company as disobedience to laws of the land. Multi Choice Nigeria Limited, operators of the DStv, had gone ahead to implement new rates and increase tariffs payable by its subscribers across board, contrary to an order by a Federal High Court, sitting in Lagos restraining the company from doing so.
According to NANS President, Com. Tijani Usman in Abuja, Multichoice has perpetrated many evils over the years, but NANS will not tolereate the company extending its rascality to brazenly disobeying the laws of the land. He therefore called on relevant authorities to intervene or the union will not hesitate to clamp down on the company.
